Seattle, WA — The New York Giants defeated the Seattle Seahawks 17–12 on Sunday, giving them sole possession of the NFC East, improving to 5–7. The victory is the fourth straight by Joe Judge and his squad. Impressively, the Giants outlasted Russell Wilson and the Seahawks without starting quarterback Daniel Jones. His replacement, Colt McCoy managed the game well, completing 13 of his 22 attempts and throwing for 105 yards and a touchdown. McCoy let the running game and defense do most of the work as RB Wayne Gallman rushed for 135 yards and his backfield partner Alfred Morris rushed for a touchdown and caught another.

Seattle, the third ranked scoring offense in the league coming into Week 13, was held to just 10 offensive points after Seattle blocked a punt late in the first half which resulted in a safety. The Seahawks, also ranked the fourth best passing offense coming into the matchup, threw for just 216 yards, well under their average of 274. While Seattle narrowly led in time of possession and total yards, the Giants did the most important thing- keeping Wilson and the Seahawks out of the endzone. The stout defense was spearheaded by DE Leonard Williams. Williams, named player of the game by Giants Wire, had 2.5 sack and 2 tackles for loss. LB Blake Martinez continued his great play before leaving late in the game due to an apparent back injury. The Giants secondary also deserves credit after a solid day against two of the best receivers in the game in D.K Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Overall, after one of their best and grittiest performances of the year, the defense propelled the Giants to the win.

The upset has playoff implications around the NFC. In the NFC West, the L.A Rams move into first place in the division after their victory over the Cardinals and the Seattle loss. After the Rams defeated the Seahawks in Week 10 giving them the tiebreaker, their Week 16 matchup becomes of even more importance.

In the dreadful NFC East the Giants move into first at 5–7. The Philadelphia Eagles fall to 3–8–1 with their loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday. The Giants will wait to watch their divisional foes play Monday and Tuesday as the Washington Football Team takes on the Steelers on MNF and the Cowboys play the Ravens on Tuesday. The Giants will retain first place with a Washington win, but will drop to second if the Cowboys improve to 5–7 as they have the head to head advantage when they defeated the Giants in Week 5. The Giants welcome the Cowboys to Metlife in Week 17.

The Giants will look to win their fifth straight next Sunday, 12/13, at 1pm when they host the Cardinals.
